they never fully cancel classes at the UW for any inclement weather reason, simply because there's SO MANY CLASSES. sometimes individual classes will be cancelled, but mostly that's because the prof couldn't make it down to the class. but no, as far as i can remember, the last snow day i had was probably in high school. the downside is that no matter how familiar you are with snow driving, it's still fucking annoying because there are so many bad drivers out there. everyone plods along at about 10 miles an hour, swerving and running into inanimate objects. it's like a parade of retarded polar bears or some shit. transmission sent by dr. j // 1:22:00 PM // linky link |

i don't have a laptop. i have a powermac g4 (the gray tower, the ones that came out before the mirrored ones). they're great for graphics, all sorts of shit. i do music recording/production, video editing, and graphics layout for CDs/DVDs and show flyers (when i was in a band). i push my machine pretty hard and it works well. the thing about mac's is that they're very stable, as far as the OS goes. so it doesn't crash often. HOWEVER, when it crashes, it crashes HARD and it's usually a headache. but that is rare. happened maybe twice in the last 3 or so years. i would recommend finding someone still in school (like DJ) and buying through them - chances are you can score an educational discount. although, truth be told, it all comes down to preference. for higher end applications there's nothing that a mac does that a PC can't, or vice versa. i was a PC guy up until i got this mac a few years ago, and i love it. oh how sick i am of the daily prospect of homework. transmission sent by dr. j // 5:39:00 PM // linky link |
