so here's a story. way back when i was in a touring rock band, on our first tour, we traveled with a band called the south of no north. we instantly bonded over cheap beer, cartons of cigarettes and a dirty rock n' roll lifestyle. then they broke up. and then we broke up. nick (the drummer from TSONN) moved to chicago and set up his own recording studio. he formed a new band with liam (the bass player from TSONN), called new black. steve (bass player/lead singer from my band) also ended up moving to chicago. he formed a new band with zaid (the keyboard player from my band) called may or may not. anyway, fast forward a year or two, and remixing jay-z's black album has been all the craze. the grey album (w/ the beatles' white album), the double black album (w/ metallica's black album), the slack album (w/ pavement's slanted and enchanted), the jay-zeezer album (w/ weezer's blue album - this one sucks, by the way)... and now i present to you: the new black album, jay-z's black album acapellas over the new black album. check it out. transmission sent by dr. j // 10:23:00 AM // linky link |

mm, delicious! yeah, i saw murs with aesop rock and mr lif a couple years ago in chicago, and i saw a def jux showcase in brooklyn about a year ago. it was hott shitt. i just missed the perceptionists (murs and akrobatik) coming through the area, because i had exams. and still have more exams. but anyway, check out "murs 3:16" its great. have you heard the album he did with slug, "felt: a tribute to christina ricci" ? that is hott shitt as well. a few years old, but hott nonetheless. and i'm sure i don't need to tell you about how hott mr. lif's albums are. ghetto core.
