yeah yeah yeahs: i was a hater for a while. then i got the record and played it a few times and thought "eh". then i kept listening to it and finally hit a point where i thought it was great. it really took a while for me to appreciate it. "maps" is a great song, and actually i just had lunch at pizza hut with some guys in my class and it was playing on the radio there. so much for the underground. they're coming to madison next week, $15, and i think i might go. could be fun -- unlike seeing the strokes with a bunch of high school kids for THIRTYSEVENFUCKINGDOLLARS. i had a test this morning and i almost overslept through it. i am an ass. also i am getting sick again, and it's totally awesome. hopefully i won't get better until fucking spring break. now i need to shower and get ready for my afternoon classes, and then come home and work on a presentation which is due tomorrow, which i haven't even started yet. fucking fuck. how's your guys' day going, mine is starting to suck some ass p.s. lost in translation is awesome. i just re-watched "fear and loathing in las vegas" the other night, which is ALSO awesome. and so is the soundtrack. transmission sent by dr. j // 1:53:00 PM // linky link |

yes, that's her. but that idea was thought up while she and chas were still dating, so in essence she was already like a roommate. then they broke up, and well that changes everything. thank god we didn't move in together, that would have been PERMANENT AWKWARDNESSITY. so who's been studying since 9am besides me? anyone? man you guys are missing out. i hate everything transmission sent by dr. j // 6:43:00 PM // linky link |

god my throat is killing me. i'm sick. i feel like i always have to cough and it hurts to cough. damnit. i'd LOVE a burger with chili cheese fries and an oreo shake, that shit sounds amazing. instead i'll have some yogurt and a lot of water, and all the cough drops i can stand. transmission sent by dr. j // 8:13:00 PM // linky link |

one of my good friends in chicago lost a friend two nights ago. a large group of them were at the empty bottle, leaving a show. there was some sort of a gang-related car chase screaming past the venue, and he got hit by one of the cars as he pushed his girlfriend out of the way. he died on the spot. this has been the hardest year. transmission sent by dr. j // 11:45:00 AM // linky link |

special weekend edition: franz ferdinand - "franz ferdinand" hot new band outta scotland. sorta sounds like the DFA producing interpol trying to be the strokes with jarvis cocker on vocals, trying to play radio 4 songs. it's certified hott and on fire; NME is currently shitting themselves over FF, and for the first time since the strokes they might be right. have a good one transmission sent by dr. j // 8:19:00 PM // linky link |
wait, he sucks huge rhinoceros dick? so does he like, keep a rhino around for that or does he go to the zoo? i mean, he lives in new york so i guess i don't understand how he could keep a rhino in his place, unless ruff ryders gave him a shit ton of cash. wow, do you think ruff ryders are cool with him keeping a rhino and shit? you know, for sucking its dick and shit? i'm sorry, i'm being sarcastic. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND EVERYONE transmission sent by dr. j // 3:27:00 PM // linky link |
yep, the mountain brothers are 3 chinese-americans from philly. styles, peril-L (as in yellow peril) and chops (dj/mc). their first two albums are pretty good, especially if you're into the early 90s native-tongues style rap (which i know you are). they're pretty conscious mc's, and chops is a fairly jazzy/symphonic producer. not very sample heavy at all. anyway chops' solo album just came out ("virtuosity") and the few reviews i've read have given it high marks. i saw jin a couple times when he was doing his 106th and park shit. haven't seen the video.. i don't know.. that guy seems kinda wack. maybe it's because i think ruff ryders is kinda wack. well either way, check out the MBs, they're good. transmission sent by dr. j // 2:14:00 PM // linky link |
tae: agreed. unauthorized beatles-sampling is a one-way ticket to litigious hell. i honestly didn't think EMI would even hear about it. when i first read up on the grey album, the article made it sound like it was going to be extremely limited/internet-only sort of thing. i guess 3000 copies is still pretty fucking limited ... unless you blow a lot of minds and subsequently receive a lot of press. i hope they don't sue DM, that would be fucking wack. have you guys heard the new chops (of the mountain brothers) album? he's got a bunch of guest stars on there (including the ever prolific kanye west). haven't heard it yet... wondering... i'm going to a fish fry tonight with some friends and it's all you can eat. in anticipation i have been trying to starve myself all day. transmission sent by dr. j // 1:38:00 PM // linky link |

you could listen to it. it's just the vocals. it's more for remix purposes. but go ahead and download it if you want. maybe you could use it to "study" the lyrics or something. transmission sent by dr. j // 4:02:00 PM // linky link |
here ya go, spanky the grey album and in case you're feeling creative, the black album acapellas transmission sent by dr. j // 3:40:00 PM // linky link |
i'll put it up now.. it'll take a while to upload, but downloading goes much quicker. once it's up, i just send you the link and you download it like anything else off the web. this is how some of my friends and i have been trading music - and it's also how my boy steve in chicago and i have been producing tracks together. the UW gives every student 50megs of internet space! free! suckers. transmission sent by dr. j // 1:09:00 PM // linky link |

tiara purifoy? how would i know her? janice, those cookies are EDIT: HOLY SHIT. i looked up that girl on the american idol site. beloit??? wtf? how in the hell did that happen and why do i have absolutely no recollection of her whatsoever... transmission sent by dr. j // 7:15:00 PM // linky link |
bro. i was joking the first time. i was making fun of the fact that dj said he had kanye's album last summer. so i one-upped it by saying i had gotten the grey album before it could have possibly come out (i.e., 3 years before the black album). and then i thought i was being obvious with the stillmatic/illmatic thing. it doesn't make any sense because it was never meant to. take a vacation cuz. you're thinking waaay too much. transmission sent by dr. j // 2:50:00 PM // linky link |
please tell me that entirely too long diatribe was a joke. but if it wasn't, then you'll also believe that i had nas's "stillmatic" before "illmatic" came out. WHADYA THINK ABOUT THAT transmission sent by dr. j // 12:05:00 PM // linky link |

ok i'm going out to dinner in a sec so here's a quickie janice: thanks for the treats. the cookies will probably not make it to the weekend. unfortunately. but that bean dip shit is gooooooooooooooooooooooood! thanks again. haejoo: nothing matters any more, you're gonna see digital underground. bring a camera and get loaded. dj: shut the fuck up mang, nobody cares that you had that shit early! (note tongue in cheek) kanye's album kept changing due to bootlegging, i downloaded about 3 or 4 different versions of the album in the last month or so. seriously. the "album" i was rocking for the last 2 weeks has about 5 or 6 songs that are not on the official release. so either way i copped that shit this afternoon, and y'all should too. tae: yeah, i have the grey album, it's definitely higher up on concept than it is bumps. the dj is danger mouse, i think he's from atlanta. he's more of an electro producer. he dropped an album with jemini (mc) last year called "ghetto pop life" and that shit was seriously slept on. one of the best hiphop albums of last year if you ask me. oh, and i had the grey album 3 years ago, before jay-z even THOUGHT about making the black album. SO EAT IT and if you guys want to make your own remix of jay-z's the black album, let me know. i have the acapellas and i can get them to you. i'm going to try to make my own, but i'm not sure of my concept ...yet. my boy steve is going to re-do the grey album concept - he thinks he can make it bump a lot harder, and i believe it. transmission sent by dr. j // 7:27:00 PM // linky link |
tae: i got that non-prophets disc. i think it's badass. the only criticism i've read about it is that the production is TOO CLEAN (bullshit). either way, i have to catch a fuckinbus, so lata transmission sent by dr. j // 8:47:00 AM // linky link |

holy shit long day. don't date classmates, don't date coworkers, don't date friend's exes or siblings. wontae: i got an advance copy of that new kanye a while ago, and damn that shit has grown on me. have you heard the album yet? shit is HOTT. album drops tonight @ midnight. cop it! i drink a boost for breakfast, ensure for dessert / somebody ordered pancakes, i just sipped the sizzurp janice: sounds good. i'll call you tomorrow. tonight i have to get ready for a presentation i'm giving tomorrow. i will probably be trying to put my head through this damn desk. fuck. transmission sent by dr. j // 8:08:00 PM // linky link |

janice: guitar, stick with it. try something easier to begin with. stairway is not exactly the best place to start - it's not all that easy of a song to play. learn power chords and try learning ramones songs, or green day songs or something. basic rhythms. once your fingers get stronger and used to holding down the strings, then you can move on to more noodling around the fretboard and ripping solos. and why don't you go somewhere for spring break? or travel this summer? but i do echo the sentiment that it will be difficult to pick up school again if you've taken time off. in related news, we had a class meeting today and starting this july, i will be on call once a week or more, working 80 hour weeks. well, not really working, because we don't get paid, we pay them, and we get evaluated and have to take exams. haejoo: go to the digital underground show. go go go go go. fuck a prospect, you got humpty. and you know humpty loves ya baby! transmission sent by dr. j // 6:11:00 PM // linky link |

how much more time do you have janice? if you're close you should just finish up, and THEN take your time off, and you don't have anything you have to "come back home" to.. yafeelme? i would have hated to come back from tour and go back to school. ... so i went to medical school. yes, yes, it is the homework that kills you in the long run. work can be just as dreary as school, but when you come home from work, you get to carry on with your life. while you're in school, you come home and figure out how not to get kicked out of the school tomorrow. so you can go back the next day. and come home. and work for the next day. and so on and so forth for the last 20 years of my life. fuck transmission sent by dr. j // 3:09:00 PM // linky link |

cot damn. what a long day. had an exam this morning, and it was the WORST. typos everywhere. questions were numbered wrong, some questions had NO ANSWERS given (multiple choice), some questions were followed by additional questions that were totally different and you couldn't tell which questions the answers were referring to, identification slides were misnumbered and printed out of order... oh my god, what a fucking nightmare. nearly three hours long. for one class. entirely possible i bombed it. and then i got to come home and try to read almost 100 pages in psychiatry to attend a 2 hour discussion this afternoon. let me tell you how well that went. or not. whatever. it's been snowing all day long, but it's been kinda warm out (for wisconsin), so it's nice. except this psych discussion was on the west side of madison, and got out at 5pm. so for the last 45 minutes i simultaneous dealt with some slippery-ass roads and a whole buttload of traffic. but now i am finally done with my monday, and i sweartogod i'm skipping morning classes tomorrow! BRING IT ON oh, and i thought the super bowl was lamesville, until the 2nd half when both teams turned on the heat. then it was fun to watch. not as fun as janet jackson's boob popping out at halftime, but fun. and DEFINITELY not as fun as me studying for today's exam while watching the game on mute. definitely. transmission sent by dr. j // 6:48:00 PM // linky link |
